Multiple Miracles

Updated: Nov 25, 2024

Fear. Frustration. Desperation.

These are all things that many of our clients find themselves in the midst of when they come through our doors here at Choices. They are often facing numerous struggles when they find themselves unexpectedly pregnant, and has happened several times this year, when all of these emotions are at their peak... they see this on the screen. Not just one baby, but TWO. Multliples in the womb mean mutliplied desperation for the mamas in our clinic. All the stressors and factors they brought in with them are now heightened by the reality of there being more than one baby... so there's more fear, frustration, and desperation to face.

For three of the moms we've served this year, this image has been a reality for them. Each of these women were facing very difficult circumstances and were very determined that abortion would be the way to escape or resolve them. When you already can't make ends meet... when you already don't have a stable place to sleep at night... when you're already parenting other children alone... when you're already without a job or a vehicle... it's difficult to see the blessings and gifts. But to help these women change their perspective, to come alongside them in the midst of their mess, and to ever so gently and lovingly help them to see the gifts we see... it's why we're here.

In April of this year, one of these women entered our doors absolutely convinced that she was not going to have another child. Throughout counseling and education, she remained resolved to obtaining an abortion. We can all relate to being paralyzed by fear and endless "what-if" scenarios that impair our ability to think logically, and that's where she was at with this pregnancy... until she saw and heard not just one but TWO heartbeats during her ultrasound. She could be heard shrieking in disbelief from the exam room upon seeing this sight on the screen. All of the hard things she brought in with her were still very present and very real, but before she left that day, she said, "I can't do it... I can't abort two babies..."

We are very thankful to be able to report to you that she was beaming with pride in photos with her newborns earlier this month.

In May, we saw another mom whose relational and financial struggles prevented her from desiring to bring a child into her situation. While meeting with her, she disclosed that she knew very little about abortion but had just thought it might be best given her circumstances. After receiving education and support from her advocate, she agreed to consider her options and to pursue some of the outside referrals we were able to offer her. This client missed an appointment or two due to a lack of transportation, so we eventually were able to continue communicating with her over the phone. We learned that she was making the very brave decision to keep her BABIES! Yes, that's right! She had been able to see her doctor since her first appointment with us, and they had confirmed TWINS! We offered the Empowerment Program to her as a means of earning material items for her girls, and she has been actively participating throughout the pregnancy. She is about to deliver healthy baby girls next month as a result of God's grace and love changing her heart!

Just last month another precious woman came to us in absolute panic. She was already working two jobs and raising two children with limited support, and having another baby was not a possibility in her mind. She sobbed as she admitted that abortion is wrong and harmful and not at all what she wanted to do, but her desperate situation made her feel as though it was the only way out. Her fear and desperation were magnified when she discovered mulitples on the ultrasound screen... yes, ANOTHER set of twins! After several conversations and counseling sessions, this sweet client has chosen to carry and parent these precious lives! She already knew the truth and she just needed to be reminded of it, just like we so often do too. Situations can be overcome. Circumstances will and do change. Sometimes we all just need someone to sit with us in those situations until we are able to start remembering the truth that God has already planted in our hearts. He doesn't leave us, forsake us, or expect us to walk through the challenges alone.

The ministry that God has given us here at Choices is just that. It is sitting with women who many times have no one else in their corner while we allow the Lord to remind them of things they already know, or to reveal truth to them for the very first time. We share these stories of these 6 beautiful, wonderful little lives with you as we celebrate victories that only God can do. We never, ever want to minimize the harsh reality that these women face and the fact that their change of heart here at the clinic does not mean that those circumstances are not still just as difficult when they walk out of our doors. We meet them where they are and love them as Christ has called us to, and He does the rest. That's why it requires all of you, too. It requires your prayers. It requires your financial donations. It requires your diaper drives and Amazon Needs List purchases. It requires all of us living and loving boldly so that women in situations like these do not hear defeat louder than they hear victory. That they do not hear judgement over grace. That they do not hear condemnation over compassion. That they do not hear that ending the lives of their unborn children is a better solution over hearing that they are strong, brave, and capable of having them and raising them.

God has always been in the business of miracles, and these stories of these moms and these babies are proof of that. In Job 5:8, Scripture reads, "He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted." We who bear His name know that about Him to be true, and it is our prayer here at Choices Clinic that our clients will come to know that too. That they will see these multiple miracles and they will know that both they themselves and the children in their womb are in fact, miracles. We covet your prayers as always that we would be found faithful to all that God has entrusted us with in this ministry. He is the Maker of these miracles, and we're so honored to be an ever so small part of them.
